Death wobble is a issue that comes about more so due to tires than anything else (at least in my case).

A trac bar might help some if you encounter bump steer.

You don't need one, but I suggest it. I put a Dana 44 HD straight axle under my truck and without it when I steer it shifts the axle over which is really irritating, so with the track bar it stays centered where it is supposed to.

the reverse shackle kit eliminates the axle shift.
if you have the track bar and want to use it, it will not hurt. but you don't really need it with a RSK

I beg to differ. BOTH of my RSK equipped truck NEED the track bar or SERIOUS death wobble occurs.

If you dont believe me, just try it with out it. But HOLD ON

No track bar on my 79 E250 4x4, shackles in the rear of the springs. Runs true and strait down the hwy with 305/70R16s that are un ballanced up to 95 mph.

I'm serious, ONLY death wobble, I have ever had was all because of the tires. If everything is in good order, wobble should not happen.

A steering stabalizer will lessen the wobble, but that's really just a bandaid. No reason for any wobble if the tie rods, ball joints, alignment, and bushings are in good order, unless the tires are to blame.

i have to agree with Dave on this one. the only trucks i ever owned that experienced death wobble were the ones with front shackle springs.
my 66 W-300 power wagon, the 2 jeeps, the 78 F-250, the 3 79 F-350's the 2000 F-350, the 2002 F-250 never have any problems. the trick is rear shackles.

Same thing with my truck when we put it all together, and it was all brand new parts and brand new balanced stock size tires. It would jump all over the place, pretty scary time.

NEW tires and wheels balanced and only needed 1oz or less
New ball joints
New tie rods.
New drag link.
New sway bar bushings
New wheel bearings.
New shocks.
New springs
Alignment.

I cant think of anything else that would be "amiss"

Do you "need" one no maybe not however if it where me I'd run one rather then go without even if didn't seem to have a "problem".

May not suffer deathwobble now but say after few hundred miles alls been well, parts suffered little wear here and there over time. Nothing big worn out no just a little at each point but combine its enough.

Everythings has been rock solid, your driving without a care in the world, so you hit 45 50ish MPH say, then you hit a dip or bad grove in the road surface. Suddenly all heck breaks loose and you have very little control shes breaking up, pressure line to PS pump blows fluid all over hot exhaust smokes flying from under hood, you just went into that dreaded deathwobble. Wouldn't you know it this time your wife/kids they are riding with you (they'll never get back in it again regardless what you claim you "fixed").

(Little melodramatic? yea perhaps but you get the idea!)

Worth it to not have that bar in place? not to me it wouldn't be.

Get definite/solid axle positioning with one, centered at all times something the leaf springs can only do but is limited, a task they're just not intended to handle.

Oh and you will suffer bumpsteer, if you don't install it right.

You guys do realize the trac bar and leaf springs work against each other in the travel the axle will move. They limit travel, and can cause a harsher ride in a SRK pickup.
