Ok in a failed attempt to removing the dashpad i have ran into nothing but problems.
I removed the dash bezel (around the guages)
unscrewed the HVAC and radio but cant get any of that stuff to pull out. i cant figure it our for the life of me
Then i realized i have to take out the glove compartment. which i also have no clue how to do.
Is there an easier way to do this? a guide? with pictures?
I don't think there is an easier way but you need to take the screws that hold the glove box in and then take the nuts off the bottom of the studs that hold the dash pad in. It is not too bad of a project but you better be ready to dedicate a few hours.
the bezel should come off after removing all of the screw and the headlight and washer *****. there is a button on the washer switch you push from underneath the dash that allows you to pull headlight **** with shaft. Washer **** has a metal clip that catches on shaft you have to release with a hooked tool. Once you get it off it is easy to see how it works. or if you just pull on the washer **** it will usually come off and leave the clip on the shaft, then you can see to remove the clip and reassemble it. then there is one screw between between the ***** and about four that go up along the top. Have to be careful with ductwork if you have ac and there is a light for the washers to unhook. tilt the top of the bezel out and lift up. there is a tab just above the steering column and another in the lower right corner by the radio i believe that holds the bottom in. then there should be screws that go up into the dash pad to hold it on. i think just phillips. there is also like a 3/8 nut to take off in the middle where the dash pad drops down. you cant see it but you can feel it. If you have to move hvac to get to screws it should just unscrew from dash and you can move it out of the way without unhooking it.
glove box should just unscrew also. thinking like 4 screws in bottom by door hinges and maybe 4 in top? It takes some manuvering but you should at least be able to drop it down out of the way inside the dash. then more screws going up into the dash pad.
There's ten nuts holding the dash pad on IIRC, they run in pairs, two to the side of the dash bezel, two opposite side of the bezel, glove box is the same, and two in the center between radio & glove box, it can be a bit of a PITA to remove, just be patient.
