Has this happened to you?
My wife has had this happen to her twice so far.
A couple of months ago my wife started the truck and noticed that the gage panel was not displaying the mileage, parking break light was on and the air bag light was on. Engine was running fine but it was shifting very hard. She got home and turned it off and called me. I got home and started it….no problem…of course.
This morning she called again and said that it did the same thing, except no air bag light.
She said that she pulled over and turned the engine off, started it again and everything was back to normal.
Anyone had this problem? What’s fixin’ to happen? Computer glitch/crash? Ignition switch? Gremlins?
Yes it has happened to me. 92 F-150 xlt 2WD. Although I don't have an airbag. I was hauling a canoe, I had a cargo rack on the top of the cab ( closer to the back), and the other end of the canoe sat on the tailgate. I dropped the canoe on the thin sheet metal of the cab roof and shorted a wire under the roof and above the headliner. When I tryed to drive the truck out IT was shifting strangely, I had a blank odometer, and the dome light was out. It turned out that a 15 amp fuse had opened up because of a short ckt in the roof. You may have a loose connection in that same type of circuit. The fuse holder might not be holding the fuse tightly. See if all of your problems are coincidently tied together by one fuse, that info should be in the owners manual or on a label on the fuse cover.
Also check the main multi function ignition switch. I had a similar problem with my 94. I found that the switch wasnt making contact between some of the accessory circuits. By the way Ford put like 4 separate acc circuits in these trucks. I replaced it and havent had the problem since. Just my $.02
Thanks guys y'all didn’t mention the computer, which makes me feel a little better till....

How do you check the contacts?
924x2150: I hope it's like your problem. I just want to stick a piece of foil in a fuse holder. I'm not looking forward to tearing into the steering column.
If you are headed inside the steering column, you might run into two bolts that dont have any head. Ford uses a bolt with a shear-off head to secure the stuff to the steering wheel.I guess when the bolts are screwed in, the heads snap off at a certain torque. This leaves you trying to cut grooves in the heads of the bolt for a slotted screwdriver, drilling, or attacking with needlenose pliers. I had to remove those bolts to change the turn signal, and high-beam switch assy.
