First off, I know ESOF hubs and I know my passenger side one won't move and is stuck on auto.
So if I spin either my passenger or driver's side axle u-joint...the other one moves. If I spin my front drive shaft only the passenger side on spins. Is my hub not disengaging. I ask cause I was driving home from work today and I got an intermittent vibration from the truck, felt like I was going over a rumble strip....would that be related to a locked hub? TIA!
If you can spin both sides of the axle by hand, the hubs aren't locked. It's normal for only one side to spin when you turn the drive shaft because it's an open diff.
What does your truck do when you are making either a left or a right turn. if you are getting a hopping then your hubs are locked in.. If Its the Rumble strip effect. I would check your hub bearings.
Ok guys, to confuse me even more...it did it again a few times today. Feels like a rumble strip and makes some awful noise and sometimes it vibrates a good amount. It vibrates more at lower speed (50-60) than say 70 mph. If I slow down to 40 mph it goes away completely and what really confuses me is if I hit a pot hole...it totally stops. The front end seems fine, no excessive play in the wheels, u-joints all seem tight...shocks? Brakes? U-joints?
