Nevermind. Cargo manager arrived problem free as did the DeeZee tailgate assist today. I'll install once the replacement cover arrives. It is slated for a Friday delivery.
Good luck on the DeeZee....
about to pack mine up and return as no amount of tightening would not allow it to bend up within 2 or 3 opens
Had high hopes for it... oh well, will just pay a small child to stand under it to absorb the shock
eww, not as funny as it seemed at the time of typing
I believe someone here told me it was going to work perfectly...I guess I should have waited until you had some more use out of it...LOL. I wanted to be like the rest of the cool kids. If it works, great. If it doesn't, then it goes back.
I have tightened mine to the point where I believe it is maxxed out and it holds. I think the deezee will be ok as long as you don't open the tailgate latch and just let go and let it fall freely. You still have to lower it 2/3 of the way, then the little gas shock can take over.
Not really worth it in my opinion but I guess that's why there is a 20 page thread dedicated to it.
Five days short of a year for mine and it still works perfectly. It catches the weight of the tailgate immediately upon opening. There is no delay while the tailgate freefalls before slowing down. I would think that would be difficult for this little shock to overcome.
So the DeeZee installed (monkey tight, screw counting revolutions) for your viewing pleasure...
Roll N Lock cover installed:
Cargo Manager Installed:
The Cargo Manager completes this cover in my opinion. If you buy it without, you are not seeing the full potential. The install of the both systems took me around 2 hours. I spent an hour custom fitting the tailgate extrusion on my gate. The instructions were very vague and led me to believe it wasn't to be used. I thought it look like chit without it, so I made it work. It turned out awesome!
The first cover came damaged. Second cover came damaged. I was able to fix the damage with a rubber mallet and some patience, but you can't see the dent in the rear angled handle. It's a shipping thing and they need to reinforce their box. They are looking into it. I didn't receive anything but an I'm sorry from Roll N Lock or Amazon. They both offered to send me another cover, but I was sick of waiting and just fixed this one.
I know it's an expensive lid, but it is made really well with top quality components. I really think it is the best rolling cover on the market. Should anyone go this route, but thumbs up from me. Just take your time fitting the tailgate extrusion and it is smooth sailing from there.
Cool !!!
Is the cargo manager part of the roll and lock kit or a standalone item ?
You have to have the Roll N Lock cover to be able to use the cargo manager as the tracks for the Cargo Manager attach to the Roll N Lock frame. The cargo manager will move up and down the length of the bed. It locks in position every 3-4". You don't have to buy the Cargo Manager though, but it really completes the bed system. It's another $269 on top of an already pricey cover. Here is a better shot of the tracks:
