My truck has been pissin me off recently. I have been having trouble with the passenger side window not wanting to go up or down intermently. because it being intermintent I cannot determine the scource of the problem. Is there a relay that controls the window operation or what? I have changed the window motor and that did not work imediately I had to wiggle wires and unplug and replug connections until it worked. Then the window operated well for about a year and now it won't work all the time. I also bought a driver side switch but it operated the window opposite of the way I wanted it to. It went up when I pressed down etc. I took a known good switch from a buddies truck for the passenger side and it would only go down. I am at a loss and I am about to convert it over to manual windows if this problem persist. I think that some jackass must have spliced the wires at some point and now I am getting a bad connection every once in a while. Any Ideas? And how hard would it be to convert to manual windows.
Pick up the tracks from a junk years and cut a hole in the door panel. Only problem isee is that some models have that mid height door pocket, that might get in the way of the crank handle..
you would need the inside door trim in addition to the guts for the manual crank. Find both doors so they match. You may only do one right now but you may want them to match in the future.
If I go to manual windows I will do both doors. I know it sounds silly but if I ever buy a new truck it will be spec'd out with manual windows & locks, rubber floor mats, and the like. I seem to go offroad more than I like and the more basic the truck is the more it fits my needs.
The last time the window did not go up I was in a rain storm and it pissed me off, bad.
I have a set of 04 Ford shop manuals but there are a few discrepencies like with wire colors. Are the haynes or chiltons worth buying for their wiring diagrams?
AllData has a good deal going on now, or at least the announcement on the top of the page says so.
How often is the window having these problems? When the window doesn't want to roll up, is it only from the drivers side or is it from the passenger side as well? Are you getting voltage to the motor when you operate the switches?
