Question Bug Guard Grill?

I'm trying to find one of these. I think it is a replacement grille (or maybe inserts?) that has plastic mesh between the chrome bars to catch bugs and debris before it hits the radiator. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I searched the web and the forums and I'm stumped. My uncle used to have one on his truck, and I regret not asking what company made them. But I know that it worked good, with decent looks to boot.

I think this is what you are talking about:

They are LUND part #28080. Hard to find. They say they have them but I would call first:
Lund Screen Front [Part#: 28080]

Ah HA! I knew someone had to have them. They look good...but did not expect the $70 price tag, but I'll have to put it on my truck bucket list. I'm assuming you painted yours?

Yes. When we got them the store had 2 sets in so we bought both. With the custom paint on both they worked out to about $250 a set. That was 8 years ago. When they were new they were ~$155 without paint so $70 is actually a good deal. I think they look great.

Yeah, sounds good compared to $155...But I just don't see it in the materials. I wonder what it would take to jerry-rig some.......

Yeah, maybe. On your last picture, the bracket in the back just slides into the grille openings and snaps in, right? That would be the hard thing to fabricate. Since my grille is already kind of marginal, I'm wondering what would happen if I just found some mesh like that and used some epoxy to permanently fix them in place. Or I could not be a cheapskate and get the real ones. It would probably be worth it in the long run.

looks like I might have something to get my self LOL!! thanks for the info!

Heres a question, will the bug screen guard for a 1995 Explorer or a 97-98 F-250 fit on my truck?

I don't think the explorer would fit. The grilles off of those are more narrow than a full size truck. But I think the 97-98 would. The F-150's from those years switched to a newer body style, but the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks kept the older style. So it SHOULD fit, but I've seen some F-250s with that newer body style, so be careful.

EDIT: Wait a sec, I didn't read that description very closely. It says F150/250 LD, or light duty. So that would be screens for a newer body style truck. Those won't fit.

Yeah the only ones that will fit are the one I have. As for the mounting, the little squares that say LUND have a tab on the back that goes through a pre-cut hole in the grill and clip onto the mounting bracket.

*Edit: Here are some pictures:

Also looked the instructions and there is an alternate part# listed... Not sure if it means there is another set or not, just throwing that out there...

They are on a F150. They will work on any F-Series or Bronco from 92-96 with the exception of 97 larger trucks working as well. As long as the F250 ones are 92-96 or 97 Heavy duty yes. Light duty wont fit...
