electric pump question

this is for the guys with the facet dura-lift e-pump.
how long does it take the pump to prime, and how full does the filter bowl get?
i only waited 3-4 minutes, and did not get a prime. and the bowl will only fill 1/2 - 3/4 full.
i have it hooked up between the lift pump and filter.

it only fills up 1/2 to 3/4 full.that's normal.
she'll prime before the WTS light is out even if the fuel is all the way back to the tanks i would guess.approx.if you suspect she's empty,id probably wait a good 30 secs.im sure by then she's returning fuel to the tanks.
i don't know about sucking fuel through the stock lift pump though.you can rest assured that dura lift will far outlast any stock mechanical pump made these days, and go ahead and just ditch that and block her off.you won't regret it.

when you say you didn't get a prime.meaning that the main filter wasn't full of fuel?
if you ran the truck out of fuel, then the ip is dry.the only way to prime that,is via cranking, and this can take a 20 sec crank until she fires up of course.in such an event,at least the filter is full for you,and she'll fill the ip on a single 15-20 sec crank (when engine is at op temp.) when i replaced the ip/bone dry.i had to wait a couple mins and give 'er another 10-15 to fire up.that's before i read about disconnecting the timing advance to help her prime quicker though.

i meant i did not get a prime as in the e-pump fuel bowl was still empty after 3-4 minutes.

Disconnect the feed line to the mechanical and use it to supply the electric.
Your mechanical is probably blocked.

the lift pump works fine, it is only about 2 years old. that is what the truck is running on. the problem is the truck sits for months due to it being a plow rig/ dump truck and not a daily driver any more.
i wanted the e-pump to avoid the 20 minute fuel system re-priming ordeal when i need to use the truck.

If you let your EP run for 30 minutes it will eventually fill the JP withuut using the starter.
