i have not posted in a while but heres a update. I have aquried a step side bed i am working hard on getting all the body work right. i will be sand blasting the metal parts of the bed this weekend but could not resist setting the bed on the truck last night to get a preview. i have a question for this truck is not going to be used for work ever again, that being said i want to lower the truck i think it will look way better. this truck is an 80 so it has kingpins, I can not find drop beams for king pins, if i get the beams for an 87-96 i will need to change the spindles. anything else? will the radius rods be the same? what about tie rods and ect ect? here are a couple pics from yesterday
Hey Hobby,
That post was tough to read. Capitalization and punctuation are important, and some white space between paragraphs will also make it much easier to read. There are some very knowledgeable folks here, but most of us are older than our trucks and don't want to spend a lot of time trying to read posts that are not well written. It doesn't have to be perfect, but you've got to put forth a little effort to get some back.
With that being said, you would be swapping out the font axles, so if you swapped out to say the 83-86 dream beams, you would also need the spindles and may have issues with the radius arm, I'm not sure. The radius arm mounts are the same from 80-96 though, so a trip to the junkyard for spindles (and possibly radius arms) might do the trick.
Of course, someone more knowledgeable may chime in and point out the flaws in that plan, but hey, at least someone responded.
Remember, capitalization, punctuation, and extra lines between paragraphs really help in making these posts more readable.
I aplogize for the lousiey grammer. I will pay more attention to it from now on.
I would like someone to tell me if I am wrong. The diffrence between the spindles between 80 and say 83 is the spindles use ball joints. Are there any other diffrences? Also if anyone has used the dream beams I would like your thoughts.
On anouther subject, does anyone have any idea where I can find the deminsions of the wood for the bed floor? I was able to find diminsions for chevy beds and older fords but nothing on the 80-86 beds.
