I have aftermarket (chrome) wheels on my truck and the lug nuts that came with them are starting to rust and look real ugly. Is there anything special I should be looking at to get new ones, size, design, etc?
Yeah I'm pretty certain factory ones won't work with my wheels. I was hoping to find some quality aftermarket ones, not that happy with the ones that came with my wheels.
Take one off and bring it in to the local parts store. They will be able to tell you the size and thread and then you know what you need when buying/ordering new ones
Likely they are different. My truck (07 heavy half) came with Eagle Alloy rims when I bought it (note - 7 lug bolts). I picked up some steel rims for winter tires and the I found some lug nuts at a junkyard that fit. The factory ones are flat faced and take a 21mm socket while the ones on the Eagles are 3/4" with a tapered seat on them. In my case, I think the lug bolts are the same ones on the 3/4 ton units.
Check with whatever brand of rims you have for the lug bolts they require. I'm sure threads are the same for most 6 bolt F150's but the seat angle are not necessarily the same for all brands of rims.
