hey guys my front brakes keep locking up in my 79 150. First it was just the drivers side, new calliper new, the master and booster need replaced so I did that as well, went to bleed and nothing came out the rear, lines looked fine put a different proportal valve in, and fixed that, thou I havent check since the front brakes locked up tonight. Now both are locked u, and line on the passenger side is smashed a little, fixing that monday. No clue how that happened. So what do you guys think, thanks.
When your front brakes are locked up as you described. I would un-bolt the master cyl from the booster till it was loose. Then see if your brakes free up. If they do them your rod adj is too long.
That's an easy way to isolate that question.
Your brake pedal should have free play; enough to operate the brake light switch, at least.
.
crack the bleeder screw and push the pedal down to force fluid out of the bleeder (as normal) if there is any resistance at all, the hoses are likely bad and blocked internally.
when they go bad, you can still usually apply the brakes and get it to stop, but they will stick and not release because the caliper cant force the fluid past the blockage in the hose. ... had it happen, after the caliper didnt fix it, the hose was next and the problem was fixed.
start where others suggest first, but if that does not fix the problem, i'd suspect the rubber brake lines.
Yeah they did it before the replacement. I have the peddle to were it feels right and the brakes locked up? New hoses and i did bring the rod back. When i had it adjusted to about were that pic old style posted says, it seems like there is way too much travle. The brake peddle is still solid when it stops, and does not go to the foor but sems too far. Im stumped. Thanks for the input guys i really appreciate it.
