Hell O all. Triton V10 is useless was the title of a link in search engine online. The member in title bar of this thread had a problem with his blowing up (it mechanically destructed). So as I found that thread while teaching myself about an F350 I'm looking at for sale, I continued research finding that a year later in '05 Ford copped to a fault requiring recall of DuPont plastic manifold coolant crossover part and retrofitting with a modified part having an aluminium crossover pipe in the molded component. So in the interest of sharing that nugget of wisdom with anyone who GAF I enrolled in the membership ...bit of a process...went back to the thread and find that( now I am a member ) the thread has been closed because its "old".The thread status was not visible until I am logged in.
THIS is NOW the SUBJECT of my Wednesday afternoon writing. How do you determine a thread to be finished when its shut for longer than it was open? It is still online and getting views, the topic is STILL of interest and there are additions to that information that people would like to share in the interest of helping their MATES ONLINE with similar interests.(?) Only any further discussion at the site dedicated to the purpose of collateral knowledge has precluded you & I finding out or sharing that stuff EASILY.? NOW this is NOT the exclusive property of FTE I must add. Sites all over the net do the same thing and when a thread turns into an argument between guys 'with the bit in their mouth' it does seem essential that admin prevent further waste of resources. Closing a thread due to its age however seems one eyed ? remember there is some possibility that it will remain online in fifty years time from now. It may be ALL that remains in some cases, and the representation of our mindset ,our attitude ,as well as our level of intelligence & knowledge.
Thanks for having me onboard ! I hope this "food for thought " generates a wiser response than many threads have managed in our collective past ? And I hope the topic finds a workable solution to serve our Grandchidren when they start restoring Ford trucks that are older than the authors of today's posts!

Perhaps you can or should start your own forums wherein its run more to your liking?

Bandwidth isn't free and keeping every post every made open makes no sense to me--it must be the same for those who own or operate this site too? However any closed or locked post that can still be read contains useful information about whatever condition prompted its creation.

FWIW there is a dedicated sub-forum for the V-10 motors: Modular V10 (6.8l) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

I'd discard anything no longer or use or interest to me---I can't assume everything in the world is for my benefit only even if I don't care how it exists or is administered at the moment. When I'm a guest I believe I'm to behave and/or enjoy things "as is" or not---whether to stay or leave is my choice.

Might I also add the presentation of your concerns here is a bit difficult to read since it lacks paragraph separations and has that huge blank space below the text.

It is what it is----enjoy or keep surfing the 'net for whatever info you're seeking----my advice anyway!

threads here are not closed when they are done, they simply die and are forgotten until reopened by someone.
the only way a thread here is closed is if there is bickering, or the content stops being useful and full of profanity.

Perhaps this sort of over reaction works against someone?

It IS indeed NON-Automotive Conversation and I thought I'd replied in kind to your concerns? Maybe I missed your point---was the issue a worn out truck or that a thread was closed long after it was originally posted?

We seem to be speaking the same language, just on different pages maybe?
