Suspension lift???

I picked up a 79 f250 4wd with the 400m about a year ago.....The rear leaf spring hangers are rotted away along with the rear shocks....im looking to replace the hangers and the shocks, but i noticed that the leaf springs have what looks like a 5 inch block between the rear axle and leaf springs....does anyone know if the blocks are stock? Or were they added afterwards for lift? I dont wanna try to put on stock size shocks and realize they're too short! And does anyone know if i can use rear leaf hangers from other year trucks? Its hard to find the ones that are made for my specific model. Preferably bolt on.

The blocks are stock. But if you do a shackle flip then you won't need them anymore. Not sure about the shock bracket.

Your drive shafts should be long enough for a shackle flip.

shackle flip won't bolt on without welding or redrilling the holes. A shackle flip requires you to move the hangers forward from their original location as well.
Measure your shocks (body and rod length) to get the right ones when you reorder. You can use rear leaf mounts from the 70's and 80's up to 96 though the holes may not match up so you'll have to redrill. Here is a stock one from jbg, though they say you may need to redrill anyway: Spring Hanger, Rear

If you want to do the shackle flip you should buy a kit, since the stock hangers aren't strong when flipped. sky has one Ford Rear Shackle Flip Kit - Sky's Off-road Design

so does ruff stuff
