Stupid turbo question
I was talking to a friend yesterday that just picked up a truck like mine, he said it has a boost gauge installed and all he sees is around 5-7 psi under moderate throttle.
Now I am reading thru some of these posts and I see a few that said pretty much the same thing. 6-7 pounds.
Now I've had my truck for a long time, I've always gotten around 6 pounds on the highway in fifth, and if you stomp it, it'll go to 10 or 11 in a blink and then spool up from there to 14(If there aren't any cops around. In the city, 1st gear is null, (not in gear long enough for a good spool, 2nd will give up 6-7 if you romp it, again, not in 2nd long enough. 3rd is another story, give it the foot to floor treatment and it'll go to 10 pounds by 2000 rpm, and 14-15 by 3000 revs. 4th is the same as 3rd. Always figured this was normal and never questioned it, until now.
I also see people say they can't hear it, anything above 5 pounds, and that's all you hear in my truck.
I figured the gauge might be stoking me a little, so I changed it to a 'real' pressure gauge this morning and went for a ride, no changes.
I see a lot of posts refering to ATS as making these turbos, but the compressor housing on mine says Garrett, and the A/R is .70 Don't know the A/R for the turbine housing, or even the model number for the turbo, but I'm gonna go digging later.
Any thought's on this are appreciated.

it is possible to adjust the pressure in the waste gate system to increase the pressure, after the turbine housing is changed.
