I think you'll like the system, and if you feel you need alittle more "tone", go to Flowmaster's website and look for their Y-pipes in just about any size you like, and get a little better flow to boot. Any good muffler shop can put it in. You'd probably need the (2)2-1/2" inlet into single 3" outlet unit to work right w/ your system.
As you can see, Flowmaster 2 & 3 chamber mufflers are rated amoungst the lowest in flow capability......a glasspack with no louvers outflows them as well unless you are compareing to oem replacement units.
sorry I've missed this chat for a while but its been real busy at work. I created a short video showing what I have done with the Dynomax Y pipe. I've found the mod to help a bit in the power loss area, but there is still no improvement in the mpg area. I originally thought I gaind 1 of the 2 mpg I lost, but after driving it more that turned out to be not true. I will do 1 more mob to this thing before I throw the piece of crap in the garbage and put the factory resonator back on........all this just to get a better sound, grrr

A flowbench is a poor indicator of horsepower improvement because an engine does not flow gases the way a flowbench does. If you check dyno charts done independently of Flowmaster, you'll see that even though the Flowmaster flows a lot less than even a straight pipe of the same diameter, the horse power is equal to, or sometimes greater than that of the pipe in question due to the pulse-reflecting properties of the Flowmaster. I don't work for nor endorse Flowmaster, I just know how they work, and that they work exceptionally well. Independent dyno tests have proven this. Flow numbers do NOT tell the story.

You might get a Y-pipe of the right size from Flowmaster to join the 2 headpipes in a smooth but "tight" manner, as you might still be getting turbulence in the area where the diameter is too large, then the pulses trying to squeeze down into the 3" pipe. Just guessing on this one, but you might look into it.

Thanks for the info. I put the Flow Master on this weekend. It went on with no trouble at all, easy install! I had a choice of side exit or rear exit, I went with rear exit. It sounds great, nice deep rumble, not to loud, and no droning. So with the new tires, new ranch hand grill guard, new steps, and new exhaust, it looks AND sounds like a truck of its’ size should...
