Thanks NumberDummy, no hole in cleaner so I guess I am looking for a different one.... I knew it had smog issues when I bought it pretty sure that is why it was non-oped but I had to have it........and took a chance that the couple of things I could see would be it....dang wrong again!

I have already done transfer at DMV have a temporary tag until May 4th to get smog, may take it in see what they say, but the more I can have correct figure the better my chances.

Thanks for your help.

CA law: It's the sellers responsibilty that the vehicle passes the smog test, not the buyer.

Do not buy another air cleaner, because you may not need one. Look on the carburetor's airhorn, is there a capped off nipple there? Ditto on the front of the intake manifold below the carb.

I can find an elbow that you can connect the hose to, all you'll have to do is drill a hole in the air cleaner. Damn, I wish you were closer, I'd like to see the puppy.

Mid-ship tank = In front of the rear axle / Aft axle tank = Behind the rear axle.

F1UZ-9H307-AA (replaced E7UZ-9H307-A & F1UZ-9H307-A) .. Fuel Tank Pump & Sending Unit Assy / Use with 40 gallon (gasoline) Aft Axle Fuel Tank / Obsolete

Applications: 1987/89 E350 / 1990/91 E350 Cut-Away.

No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has F1UZ-9H307-AA or F1UZ-9H307-A.

E7UZ-9H307-A =

PEROGIE ENTERPRISES in Highstown NJ has ONE = 609-448-5593 / E7UZ-9H307-A was the original 1987/90 part number.

No Ford Dealer, no other obsolete parts vendor has any.

NumberDummy, good point I can drill a hole in the cleaner and attache an elbow for the connection. There is a place for nipple on the back of air horn which I believe is fresh air for the heat choke.

Sorry in advance.......the charcoal canister, I have two, are the rectangular boxes with two ports on top my manual shows "Canister assembly 9D653" the coffee can is something else?

Had a I had to deal with. 'Course if he didn't hijack your thread and had typed another thread asking the question, I prolly wouldn'ta seen it. Found the obsolete part he was looking for.

9D653 is the Ford basic part number for a charcoal cannister.

Coffee can is a vacuum reservoir, prolly used with the factory A/C your truck has. I can research it, if you wish....later today.

Have errands to run, woulda run them sooner, but it was raining and I didn't want my truck to get wet ( don't ask!).

Thumbs up

Doesn't bother me, glad you were able to help us both. No need to reasearch the vac reservoir I am going to try and piece the thing together from what I have, will let you know how it goes.

Did some more searching and found an old thread (4/2011) with some excellent illustrations from mikeo0o0o0, 96.1 F-150/350 8cyl. 460 Calif., can't tell exactly how some of the vacuum is routed but this is the first thing I have found that seems to match my rig and if what is there is close looks like I just need to connect the two canister together, you guys rock! I would link it here but do not know how.

Thanks!!

SoCal GTG this Saturday, so I washed, used a clay bar, then paste waxed the oversized tub in my sig pic. Looked out the window at 5AM, Geez, Louise...it's raining!

The last time I drove one of my vehicles in the rain, George W was in his first term as prez, I kid you not.

I'm a nut, crazy as a loon, but you prolly already figured that out.

You all did such a great job on my last question, thought I would hit you with another.

Check this choke (no pun intended) job!

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...nnections.html

learned about heat chokes from FMC400, excellent job by the way if any one chats him up....

I know I saw a post with where to pick up a choke tube assembly but can't find it.

Or should I just go manual? choke that is.

Either way I am thinking carb kit just so I have a good starting point? Confidence in PO is not super high right now. Of course my pre-purchase inspection skills are in question also but man that baby looks good in the driveway! and I WILL get it worked out.

I got a manual choke on the 4v on my 85 Bronco and love it. Starts instantly with two pumps and no one else knows how to get it started. Not even the kid I bought it from.

I doubt it's the same as the original, as the "formed" tube was a Ford dealer part only, as was 9C869
Edit: All the 1975/78 (1979 is different) Motorcraft 4V carb related parts are shown in an exploded view, you need to see it. See your other thread for the info.

Pic of choke in other thread: The round black plastic cover is missing from the choke, has a thermostatic coil spring on its backside. Choke won't work without it.

Is the triangular shaped carb ID tag still in place (attached by one bolt) on the "original Motorcraft 4350" carbs air horn, or is MIA (as usual)? If present, post the ID number from it.

There's more to the formed choke tube (D4VY-9819-A) than meets the eye as it connects to the following. If it's still in place (tucked into intake manifold), has it rusted out (as usual)?

C8VY-9C869-A .. Thermostatic Choke Heater Tube / 4 1/2" formed length with formed tube and square flange on (1) end, located on R/H side of intake manifold / Obsolete

Applications: 1968/78 429/460 FoMoCo Passenger Cars / 1973/79 F100/350 460 / 1975/91 Econoline 460.

Note: There are only two of these puppies available NOS / If you need one, send me a P/M or email (sylhall@aol.com) for the sources.

When I post part numbers/sources for obsolete parts, especially if they're scarce and desirable like this puppy, the parts may be gone (bought by others) by the time the original poster (OP) is aware.

Thanks I will check the other thread, I have the cap and the spring, I took it off to get the picture of the tubes into the manifold. Looks like half of it rusted off and the hole was plugged. Do you have any thought on conversion to manual choke? Any issues with CA smog and converting to manual?

The carb tag is still in place ACE D8TE AMA

Probably depends on who you take it to and how thorough they are, but I can see where they could turn you down for it. The "Help" section that's in most of the big name auto parts stores should have a piece of choke tube and fittings...you can bend to fit and cut to length from the exhaust manifold to the choke.
