They said their additive disperses the water, not an emulsifier per say. Here is the explanation.
Fuel Power (Glycol Ether) is the base for most of our fuel additives and works very well in removing moisture from fuel systems. Fuel Power "totally" disperses water through a process of hydrogen polar bonding. It does not emulsify the water with the fuel, but takes the water out of the fuel and turns it into a combustible substance. Water is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen (HOH). Fuel Power separates the hydrogen molecule from the water and attaches it to the hydrocarbon chain of the fuel (C-H-C-H-C-H) thus harmlessly combusting the water out! "
The tech person there said it basically makes the water disappear. It doesn't just go through the system like an alcohol based product. I have spoken with Schaffer and I believe theirs does the same thing. I think Power service Clear diesel does this as well.
I think this is what we need to stop water going through the HPFP. If we use a demulsifier we stand a chance of having enough water to overwhelm the stock filter hence pulling water into the HPFP from the filter..
You know it would be nice if a Ford engineer would chime in as they do read theses forums and we could use some help getting a good additive!
Does anyone have any additional tech info on this type of additive?
I believe this is the type of product we need
