Snorkel?

I made one out of 3" pvc pipe and found a flex hose off an air filter housing in the salvage yard to connect pvc pipe to air filter housing. I ended up taking it off because my truck was running poor due to lack of air. Either 3" is too small of tubing to use for a 360 or the carburetor needs to be adjusted differently due to the snorkel being hooked up I'm not sure though been on other projects and haven't gone back on snorkel project yet.
