Body Mount Swap
I have read a bunch of the posts on here but I have not seen a break down.
Where does the shim go?
Between the top and the body? Seems like the only place for it to go.
Just trying to do my homework before I have it torn apart.
Can you do one side at a time or do you need to undo both fronts to get enough clearance?
Thanks,
D.
Note that on my X the bolts were different sizes and style on the driver vs. passenger side. Driver 15/16 and passenger 13/16. The passenger side didn't have the big taper part either. You can see it in the pic. I didn't mess with getting that washer off.
The replacement were all the same - the larger one.

The passenger side is easy. 19mm socket with a long extension.
The driver side took a 19mm ratchet end wrench to get it. The wrench saved me from having to take the air box out, etc.
Pic in the wheel well to show you want you are taking loose.
I took the nut and washer completely off the passenger side. Driver side I didn't want to fight the nuts washer, etc putting it back on.

I didn't plan on pulling the middle row seat. I had to take the body mounts loose under there to get enough movement to get the upper insulator out.
Note: You will need a T-55 to pull the bench seat out. Many sets only go to T-50. I had to make a Ace Hardware run... Also, when you go to Ace you will need some replacement clips to hold the plastic covers that hide the front T-55 bolts. .50 each to put them back on there - you will need 4.

I was lucky, nothing was rusted up. I suspect you guys up north will have to oil up those bolts to get them out. I believe mine were all original. You could see where the top rubber in the isolator was wearing out - falling part. I didn't see any melt on melt rubbing, etc.
Enjoy,
D.

$140.66 in parts.
I wish I could get a full set of aftermarket and just do it once.
Have not driven it yet - been covered up at the ranch. I mate get to go test it out on Monday. I need to haul some cattle on Tuesday - so, for sure then.
Note: The creaks didn't' start until I put the suspension upgrades in place. I think the rear sway bar started it.

Great write up and info - Rep points on the way
BTW - Did the top and bottom mounts seperate easily or did you have to pry them/torch them apart ?
I'm getting tired of the clunking on off-camber roads.
Test drove with the front sway bar disconnected and the clunking
remained.
I installed my rear Hellwing 12-14 months ago, and it might have
accelerated the clunking.
Tousley here I come.
Reps for this info BTW.
$140.66 on the parts shipped to my door. They did mention the price went up a little, but it is better than the beer can sound from the floor boards.
Thanks for the reps.
