I think fluid will come out of the back of the tranny, not sure on the t-case though, i had fluid coming out of both ends.... I might be wrong on the tranny. Was it red like ATF?
Got the ZF5 installed! Just need to bolt up some more stuff, got to unbolt my front driveshaft to replace u-joint, but other than that. I just need to bleed the slave cylinder and it should be road ready!
Oh yeah. Got to put fluid in the t-case and transmission.
I got the fluid for the tranny but what do I use for the T-CASE?
I will post pictures up.
But seriously...it was just a bolt in like everyone said.
Make sure the old gasket of the old cylinder is scraped off the firewall.
Push the new one through the hole
Get the brace for the clutch cylinder and put it on the two bolts on the cylinder on the fire wall
You may have to remove the Clutch sensor on the rod to tighten the top nut for the clutch slave master cylinder (these nuts use 1/2" or 13 mm sockets). All you do is squeeze the clip
Pull off
Pull the sensor piece off (Reinstall backwards as mentioned, you willl just slide the clip back on though)
Get the clips for the clutch lines from the old lines (screw them back where they were before to hold the lines)
Other than that the swap is a bolt in, just do as you did when you took out the old transmission but do it backwards to install the ZF5
FOR THE TRANSFER CASE, USE A THICK BEAD OF RTV SILICONE
Glad it went smooth for you and that you're happy with the trans.
Thanks again Walter. I used bout 4 qts of Mercon V in it but I probably will drain it again and fill it up with 5 qts. Maybe it make the bearing sound like the zf5 has go away some.
Yep, the 5.72:1 ratio makes for a really slow but really strong pull down there. The sheer size and strength of the unit makes it produce a little more noise than the lighter weight M5. But its a trade off well worth the audio signature change.
I'll keep this info in mind if I ever decide to go this way.
It's easy, you probably just have to get the mount for your Bronco and cut out some holes for yer crossmember and possibly get a different driveshaft and flywheel
