I have a 96' Ford bronco with Radiomaster speakers and an aftermarket Kenwood Radio. For 2 years I have had no issues with it at all but in the past week the rear passenger speaker is shorting out on the mount. I've wired it all correctly, and every time I put a screw into the mounting bracket I get sparks. I wired it into the other rear speaker and tried to mount it again, same thing happened. I'm pulling my hair out trying to find out what is wrong and I really need some help.
Do you have any type of amplifier? Factory or aftermarket? So you have an aftermarket deck (kenwood) and aftermarket speakers (radiomaster), are you trying to use the factory wiring?
It's all just factory wiring with larger speakers then stock is all. I've talked to a few friends and we think that the speaker is just shorted out ($40 for a set at WallyWorld.) So I'm going to get a new one and see what happens.
Def get a new set of speakers. Also grab a decent roll of 12g wire and run new wires. You might have a factory amp hiding somewhere thats messing with you. Just my .02
I don't think I have am amp though since all 4 speakers were replaced by with slightly larger aftermarket ones and the radio was professionally installed through the factory wires and like I was saying. I haven't had issues with it until just last week. I think that some rain might have snuck into the electrical when I had the top off earlier this year.
Well I did find out my truck does have an amp..I think its underneath the glovebox in the corner...The stock radio didnt work so the previous owner removed it...I already had an aftermarket and once I wired it up none of the speakers worked. So I just rewired everything.
