cruise control retro?
I am rebuilding my old 79 F100 Custom that never had cruise. This will be a frame-off, new or rebuilt everything. Due to a bad knee, I've got to have cruise control in this truck. It will have a 300-6 and I was planning on keeping the 3 spd manual and maybe later a 4 spd. Its 2wd.
What do I need from a donor 73-79 truck to make this work?
Could I use anything from a newer such as an early-mid 80's truck?

..I've considered this refit myself but there are some original equipment options that just aren't real feasable (is that a real word?). Anyway expense, scarcity of parts and reliability and repairability are concerns on this project. I will eventually install an aftermarket unit.

Cruise Contol actuating device on Intake
(Carb linkage chain,bracketry,Vacuum pod)
Vacuum actuation device harness
Vacuum Canister and hose to rear of intake.
Brake Booster FT-38 ,or FT-43
Brake Pedal & Pedal Assembly
Cruise Control shutoff switch
Horn Relay wiring
Parts required listing.

1) Is there any reason why cruise from a carbed '80's truck (which are very plentiful with this option) could not be made to work?
2) I haven't found a good schematic or diagram of how cruise control works and what each component does. Any ideas?
