think about it Skip, everyone loved there first car/truck. even if it wasnt what everyone thought was "cool",fast..ect you just have a connection with your first right? i learned to drive on a '94 explorer when i was a kid and bought my old '96 when i was 14. poured my heart and soul into it modding it. so its just a obsession/addiction i guess.

i'm already making a mod list...its a long one!

Nice find, Russ! I'm with Gigger, lift it, I see no point in lowering a 4X4. Now if it were two wheel drive.....that would be cool to lower, just my opinion. Can't wait to see what you do the it!

Its not always the trucks fault, could be the guy that worked on it before you

LOL Skip, that explorer you had was a junker. worn out and beat to death. not really a good example of the awesomeness of explorers

miles dont = care. i have seen some trucks with less then 30k that are so trashed you would think they have 300k on them. that said i have seen some with 250-300k that are so clean you would think they were brand new.

yeah, you cant judge a truck based off a parts truck you had. really thats all it was in the end.

that said i sat here and thought counted them up, i've owned 12 explorers since i was 14, not including my dads 2. i absolutely love them, although its weird to drive one after daily driving excursions since 2009.

so i pick up the '01 tomorrow after work..i'm so excited! the girl is moving and needed the truck till she leaves tomorrow. wrote up a contract got all her info and left a deposit on it. we've been in contact through the week and 5:30pm tomorrow i pick it up!!!

so i've already bought a few things for it...

found a awesome deal on a set of 1995 Limited Explorer leather seats. they need a good cleaning and maybe alittle work on the bottoms but i know a guy that can fix that easy..they still dont look "bad". great deal for $150.

bought a brand new wheel bearing for the left front which i know is shot..that will be replaced tomorrow night.

also just ordered warrior lift shackles and a add a leaf kit. i guess that answers the question about lifting or lowering eh? LOL

i'll start a new thread tomorrow with detailed pics and the start of a build..SO EXCITED!
