Well now that i got my 78 F250 running like a champ, i need some advice on exhaust...i am looking to go to true duels i have headman headers that i need to install...what do you guys recommend for the rest? i have had alot of people say magnaflow...i am going to cam the truck in about a month so i want it to sound as good as possible...i am also looking at installing the system myself...so is it cheaper/easier to just buy the set up online...and is there possibly other companies that make exhaust sytems that are cheaper in price but not performance?
and lastly i was thinking about dumping the exhaust right in front of the rear tires ....anyone have this done? does it look good/sound good???
I have hooker headers to 2 1/4 piping then put glasspacks (24") below the cab. True duals. Have them at a 90 in the rear sound great. Alittle more bark then when i had them in front of the wheel.
its exhaust season or something. im sitting on some flowtech headers just waiting to instal and was going to do a true dual and have a 90 degree straight down pipe behind the cab. not sure on the mufflers yet. thinking about the largest CB glasspack i can find would do but want a deep tone..
I want a deep throaty tone, esp once i throw the cam i wnt a deep muscle sound! I havent even looked into glasspacks, i will prolly go with some of hose cuz they are way cheaper and most say they give you a good sound
When I do mine, I plan to use the Hooker dual kit. They offer one version for manifolds and another for headers. 2 1/4 mandrel bent aluminized tubing and you pick the turbo muffler of your choice. Exit is behind the right rear wheel. Cost is reasonable through Summit.
I wouldn't mind 2 1/2" pipes but I figure the mandrel bent 2 1/4 is at lest as good as an exhaust shop "crimp bent" 2 1/2 and its twice the capacity of OE.
2.25 or 2.50-inch tubing and mufflers of your choice. If you can weld, then I recommend getting a mandrel bent tubing kit from Jegs' or Summit. ..depending on mufflers, you can get 'er done for as little as $260 or less.
Sometimes ya can find newish Flows at the JY... worth a thought.
