I need some experts opinion....
My 99 F150 4x4 power door lock on the drivers side has just started malfunctioning. When I hit the button, it acts as though it wants to go up or down, but it's as though it's in a bind.
I pulled the door panel off thinking it may be sticking or binding, but that didn't help. There does not seem to be anything touching the rod that might keep it from working.
Well, to test the switch just short the leads together with jumper or a metal screwdriver. Can you operate the lock manualy easily? Does it feel like it's in a bind?
I don't think it is the switch because not only does the other side work perfectly, but the drivers side moves as if it wants to go up or down, it just doesn't!
I have similiar power lock problem on my F150 Lariat. It's been intermittent for a while. The driver side works just fine, but the passenger side shows some "sticky" response. Whenever I press the power lock button, the drivers side would response on any first press, but for passenger side, it would response after second or even third press. Is there a way to test before going overboard with removal of door panel along with switch or the door lock actuator. Would a spray of WD-40 help? I'm not having serious problem yet to perform any basic troubleshooting.
Not sure that WD40 will cure it but I dont think it can hurt.
Spray a whole bunch into the latch and see what happens.
The actuator is built into the latch on the newer trucks.
