98 steering clunk
I’ve got a 98 RWD 5.4 with about 170,000 miles. It recently developed a loud clunk from the steering while parking. It only happens at low speeds and only when changing direction from turning left to turning right. It only happens sometimes and it seems to be worse in reverse than going forward……

I climbed underneath this morning and everything looks pretty tight including:

- Tie rod ends<O

- Sway bar links<O

- Ball joints

I gave the whole steering a good ole yank back and forth and there doesn’t seem to be any play in the system.

It’s also probably worth mentioning that about 18 months ago I replaced all the ball joints, bearings, sway bar links, tie rod ends etc. All the stuff I replaced seems pretty tight, but I have neglected to grease any of it since I did the replacement.

Any bright ideas? I’m drawing a blank here!?<O
