New Excursion Owner.
I just picked up a 2004 Limited excursion 2wd 6.0 powerstroke. It has 98k miles on the clock. I purchased it from my buddy. This is my first diesel. It has an EGR delete and and Upgraded oil cooler. I have been reading many good posts on here about bulletproofing. He has been running dino oil. I plan on changing to synthetics soon. I also plan on purchasing an Oil Bypass, Blue Spring regulator upgrade and 6.4 banjo bolts. I have a couple of questions. I have been reading post after post here. Lots of great info. So seems like so many mods that can be done to bulletproof.
1. Is there any reason why it would be worth paying extra for the oil bypass "DELUX" model that has a sample valve? I figure I can just pull a sample by either hand vacuum pump or pulling the filler cap off while its running?
2. Is the pressure gauge for the oil bypass worth putting on? Seems like a waste of money to me. Just wondering.
3. I was reading about a coolant filter bypass. Is this worth doing? The coolant was just flushed maybe 3k miles ago.
4. Is there anything else you guys recommend to the truck for bullet proofing sake?
5. My buddy gave me a couple of bottles of Standyne fuel additive said. Just add this every couple of tanks. I read about 2 stroke oil and a few others. Should I be adding something every fill up?
This will be my daily driver. Haul kids to school and haul me to work and back. I live in Houston. So its hot and humid here. Thanks for all the great info. Luis

Amazon.com: REV-X Engine Oil Treatment Kit Two 4oz Bottles: Automotive
Recommended dose of REV-X fuel treatment in every tank:
REV-X Distance+
A quart of this wouldn't hurt in each tank either:
