Dirty tank and lines
I am having the tank flushed and lined buy a radiator shop for $100. It sound decent to me but is this a fair price? The other question that I have is would it be alright to run rubber hose from tank to pump and bypass the steel lines? I know the rubber will rot eventually but not for a long time. I hope to start driving it on Saturday and can't wait because it has only been driven about 10 miles in the last 6 years since I bought it!!!!!
Thank you in advance for any help,
Ben
I'd feel much better with a metal line, and it's really not that hard to bend yourself a new one out of new tubing. It's more durable, and less prone to collapsing and driving you nuts.

PS. My 59 Buick came from the factory with an all-rubber line snaked inside the frame. Still the original line.
I've used a combination of metal and rubber gas line over the years with no problems. Just be sure to secure it so there's no chaffing and plan on replacing it every few years. The $100 for the gas tank job sounds pretty good to me. It would probably cost you nearly that for all the chemicals if you did it yourself. Around here the same job runs about $150.
If you have your tank lined, your fuel guage will likely stop working (because the level sensor will loose it's ground). There was a post either in here or in the other forum on fuel systems (I snuck out of here once) very recently that discussed this exact issue.
The fix for the ground is in that string. It was a very minor repair.
Don't be afraid of it.
I saw a post yesterday in here or in the y block forum about it. I looked last night and the ground is already run from the cab to the sender mount. Guage doesn't work so I will check and make sure that it is grounding good there.

P.S. I stopped by the shop last night and fired it up and it started on the third turn and purred. I didn't know that this engine could sound that purrdy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
