Can you give me a model number and which engine this is on? It looks great by the way. I tried to find one recently and couldn't come up with anything for my 5.4
Its on a 2001 e350 6.8 v10,the 5.4 stock intake looks the same as my 6.8 stock intake but I don't if the intake tube length is the same here is some pics 5.4 6.8
Its not REALLY changing where the air is drawn in from. It takes air in from the same place as the factory style (you can see it ramping down to the intake in the radiator shroud). Testing has shown that the AFE (and, in fact, most of those reusable/washable cone filters) sacrifice filtration quality for airflow.
Either way, if you cannot find an intake for your application, airaid makes a UBI kit. Its good stuff, I used one on a corvette motor I dropped into a 62 IH scout. Clearly not a listed application, but the airaid UBI kit is just some tubing molded with lots of corners. Cut what you need, use included boots as needed, bolt on filter, add support braces, and there ya go.
