I am looking into getting a 2000 Excursion limited with a 7.3 diesel. The truck has higher miles, 271,000 but I dont think that's alot for a 7.3. The truck is a 1 owner truck and very well maintained by a local ford dealer. The inside is mint and not a rip, tear or stain in the whole truck! Some new goodies include, turbo and exhaust from the turbo back, new batteries, radiator and alternator, all around pads rotors and calipers, brake hoses and new tires. It has a few issues besides the typical fluid and filter changes. I think it has a injector going out as every now and then you will hear it "drop", as well as the water pump needs to be replaced due to a small leak. I know how to do the simple things but my Uncles diesel mechanic will be doing the heavy stuff. Is there anything else I should look into or watch out for? If all goes well I will be posting pics tomorrow!
Looking forward to the pics. I bought my 2000 limited a few months ago and could not be happier. My only advice is to be realistic about the costs of little fixes and the occassional big fix. It is not a new car with a 100K warrantee.

Post Pics!
Follow the advice of be realistic on cost of repairs. My 2000 Limited has been a great vehicle. While the PSD may be just hitting its groove the rest of the truck has high miles.
I agree with the other statements. While the 7.3 can go further, 271,000 is a lot of miles. So the engine and rest of the truck will show signs of wear and tear and will require repair(s) or PM's. Stay on top of that and you should be fine.
I hope you're getting it at a great price. I would not pay a premium price for a 2000 model with 271K.
I just recently picked up a 2000 7.3 with 187K miles. Sounds like mine! Interior is in great shape, the only issue was the rear lift gate lock needed and new actuator and I have a window seal leaking, another easy fix.
So far I love this tank. Can't wait to hook the camper up and go!
Nice pickup! Looking at your pics, especially the 2nd and third row's condition, I doubt the previous owner had rug rats steping over the seats and spilling drinks and fries all the time. Plus, your taking advantage of the 2000's dated tape player with that white cord (like we do).
The truck is all stock and I avg about 13.5-14 city and 17-19 highway according to that message display. So im guessing right around there. Considering it weighs just under 7,500lbs (7,275 lbs curb weight) Im happy with the mileage compared to my previous F350 with a V10.
