The original in my 54 is getting pretty ratty and I dont believe I want to have it redone.
What are easy fit choices for buckets, I dont care what make?
Then I can make a box that sits between them for storage; Ive run out of space behind the seat!
I noticed Kai's setup but anything that old is pretty much shot around here. Lots of late 80's trucks and vans in this area tho but if something earlier is a natural fit I can look a bit harder.
Unless you are very tall, I think you are looking at building a riser box for almost everything except Van conversions. All car buckets I have ever seen are way too short. As you know, you really can't look those up in the Hollanders. You pretty much just have to look around the yards for those. Some of the later model trucks are very nice, but they aren't true buckets and don't usually have the space between them you specified.
I put a 40/20/40 power seat out of a 2001 F150 in mine. But you did say easy. I spent a bunch of time inventing mounts. The second set would be easy using the first for patterns.
The only thing that bugs me a bit is that the seat is not directly in front of the steering wheel.
I would look at the Exporer seats. It should fit about right with the console.
How about a pair of grey leather buckets out of an 87 Chrysler 5th Avenue? They are yours if you want to come get them. I was thinking about using them in my truck, but I don't want electric seats. The leather is well used, but no tears or cracks.
Well, Im not tall nor too broad in the beam so Im sure ricer buckets are out.
Vern, I was thinking about giving you a call and maybe coming up and look at that engine, say next week. I'll look at the seats also.
You OK in the phone book?
I used a bench out of a 90? c---y p.u. Great fit, easy install--basicalyy bolted to the floor. If I were to look for buckets, I believe I would start with a C---Y astro van, I'll bet you could use the factory bases. The only complaint with the bench is that it has 3 "seating areas" moulded into the seat and that puts the driver area a little off center to the wheel.
I'm in the book. Leave a message if I'm not available...been having a lot of fun outside yanking the suspension out of the Chrysler. I haven't pulled the seats out yet, but I can have them out by the weekend if you think you might want them.
