Emission component color codes
This is actually a continuation of my rad post but since that has evolved I thought I'd start a more specific thread.
I'm looking for a vacuum control valve for my 82 300six. It is attached to the thermostat housing and has 4 vacuum line branches.
With some help in a previous post I tracked one down at Rock Auto. When I look at the details it is listed as "code black" mine is blue.
Since I was told by a ford parts guy that they are specifically color coded, I'm not sure if the Rock Auto one will work.
My question is this, does anyone know what the deference between the color codes is.
The lines appear to be for dist, evap and EGR and is temp controlled.
Thanks

The colors describe the temperature at which the valve operates.
Which one is correct for your engine is determined by the Calibration Code of the engine.

Ok, that's probably good news since emission testing is conducted at operating temperature. Thanks.
