My son has an 01 F250 4X4 that he just bought that has quite a few miles on it. Body, interior, frame, suspension and drivetrain are in really great shape. The engine, however is suffering from someone who did not know how to take care of a 7.3. Three cylinders are down on compression and it needs several thousand dollars in parts to make it right. He gave next to nothing for the truck, so he is OK with it. We currently have a 2004 Caterpillar C7 diesel sitting in the shop out of a F650 that got rolled. The engine is solid. Does anyone make an adapter ring to bolt this thing up to the 4 speed auto transmission? Also does anyone know of a wiring diagram to wire this thing into the F250 wiring harness? I think I could use the F650 and F250 diagrams and match it up, so that shouldn't be a problem. We can fabricate the lower mounts OK.
Yeah, the dry weight is 1425 as opposed to 920 for the PS. I'm thinking some aftermarket add-a-leafs or a set of leaves from a F450 with heavier shocks.
How about the height of the CAT? Kinda the same reason no body drops a 466 in our trucks- it has been done- but theres a lot of work involved! I hope you guys do it, I'd love to see it!
in the pic of the motor it did not look much taller than the 7.3.
i would think a good shop could CNC a plate to fit the motor to the trans.
the real work is the wires.
