Turbo On F150

I am not a boosting expert, but I have put a turbo on a N/A diesel. I have researched the topic quite extensively because I considered doing a custom setup on my 99 5.4, but through the process I have seen numerous 5.0 turbo builds. There are alot of fox-body stangs out there that are turboed and I am sure someone makes a kit.
My suggestion is not to do it if you are wanting better mpg for sure, but if hotrodding is your thing then a turbo may be a way to go. Do not expect to be able to do a turbo build for cheap though; expect to spend at least 1000 bucks easy and that is if you do all the work yourself and build a custom setup with a good used turbo. It is possible to gain mpgs but don't expect it; typically more air means more fuel. You also would need to see how a turbo would effect your fuel to air ratio and how you would adjust it. I know in my truck a tune can be created, but not sure how that would work with an earlier EFI.
My advice spend the money on other easier add-ons like long tube headers, cams, gears, and intake for better performance.
