Ok I'm pulling the air out of the truck. I've searched and can't find the thread that had info on what need to be swapped from a non air truck. There might not be a thread like that but it sure would be nice to know what can stay or go. Thanks to all
Is this factory A/C you are removing? You will have to pull the big box from the engine compartment, the undo the lines and water hoses, pull the a/c heater box out from under the dash. Glove-box has to come out first....
Helpful hint: There is a bolt holding the lower right hand side dash to the A-pillar; It's tucked up under the glove-box. Removing that will allow movement and give you more room sliding the box out.
I think the "heater only" air box bolts to the firewall using the same mounting holes.
You will need to make a large cover plate to cover the dog door size hole in the firewall. mounting the new box temporarily will allow you to locate the needed hole for the blower motor.
Get the heater controls and wiring from the donor truck as they are different. And buy a new heater core; if you can afford it a new blower motor. Although since you will have greater access because of the "cover plate" I guess you could easily replace the motor later.... Good luck!
