Cool 351w with a stall while accelerating

Ok folks,
Same engine (351w), new coil, new ignition module, new voltage regulator, new crankshaft sensor, new alternator (60 amp output), new mechanical fuel pump & filters.
I am still having a stall while attempting to accelerate from a dead stop and from about 10 tp 15 mph.
Acceleration once moving faster than 20 mph is about normal.

The VV 7200 carb is where I think the problem lies. More specifically, I think it could be the accelerator pump portion of the carb, but I really hate the carb altogether.

The truck has only 86 thousand miles on it.....

Please advise....

Thanks in advance...

I'd be willing to bet you're right on the carb being the problem. I don't have any experience with that particular carb, but accelerator pump would be a great place to start looking. Also do you know what size jets it's running? Are you getting any black smoke out the exhaust?

I've got a Holley Street Avenger (670 cfm) on my 351W and it really makes that engine come alive.

Unhappy 351w with a stall while accelerating

No idea on the jet size(s) and negative on the black smoke from the tail pipe. Other people have recommended the same size carb that you have recommended. I'm thinking I'm not even gonna mess with the accelerator pump rebuild.....I'll maybe let loose of some cash to get a new carb...

This truck HAD cats until I de-gutted them. I didnt know if the absence of the guts was playing havoc with other parts of the truck and causing it to run incorrectly. The O2 sensor is still in place and connected and none of the other "emissions" related components have been removed.

Thanks for the recommendations on the carb and any other information you may have for me will greatly be appreciated...

I was talking with a friend of mine, a veritable Ford guru, and I told him I had read somewhere that for a 351, a 600-650 cfm carb was enough flow. He said yea, maybe for a Chevy, but the Windsor demandsmore air, more along the lines of a 750 double pumper. Not saying that the 670 cfm is bad or anything (I've only got a 600 on mine), but throttle response and performance wouldn't suffer with a 750 or even an 850. Heck, if you're getting a new carb anyhow, just go to the next level.

Righty o, when you are talking "more air" should I be looking to increase and or improve the amount of air the truck is getting right now? Perhaps putting a K&N air filter would contribute to better air flow. Currently, the stock air filter and air horn are in use.
The price difference is not much more for a 750 from a 670, actually, anything above a 600 is gonna put me back about $300 + (new).
Is there any particular place (magazine or store bought) you find carbs any less expensive?

Thanks for your reply and information....

I've got a few friends who do some street racing, some straight line, and some circle jerkers, and if I need something that spans all four genres of racing (the fourth being mud), like a carb, I ask them if they know anybody. You can usually find 'em on eBay for a pretty good price, usually under $100. Heck, evenm the brand new ones are less than you'd find in Jegs or Summit. There's a brand new (for real, brand new) 670 cfm Holley Truck Avenger for $340, and 770 cfm for $350. These things are supposed to be the greatest thing since EFI for trucks and off-roading.
