After alot of cleaning products and the help of bottle and tooth brushes the intakes are pretty clean. I'm going to strip and repaint the stock upper soon.

I really just want to see how good it turns out. I also may have to use them at first, it depends if I can get that Eddy intake or if I have to wait.

You mentioned this truck was OBD-II yes? For OBD-II Ford didn't put an air pump or any of the accompanying hardware on these engines. No air bypass valves, crossover tube, or air pump. They used a more advanced EGR system and ran cleaner I suppose such that they didn't need the thermactor system.

I'm not sure about that. My friends 96 F150 5.0 is OBDII. It has a smog pump and AIR injection.

It may have had to meet different emissions since it was made in Canada??? Not sure, but it's weird b/c I know I've seen OBD-II trucks with a smog pump.

In 96 F150 and Bronco went to OBDII. Does yours have a smog pump?

I found another oddity with this 96 F250. The 5.8 doesn't have a complete ID number on the block. Also where the date code would be is blank.

Based on what I gathered these numbers are roller 351W blocks.

F4TE-6015-AA-12 for 93/94

F5TE-6015-AA-12 for 95

F6TE-6015-AA-12 for 96

This block is missing the 2nd and 3rd characters. Here is its number. What the heck does this mean? Is it a replacement motor or the last production run or something?

F___E-6015-AA-12

My 96 F150 5.8 never had an air pump. The exhaust manifolds don't have the fittings for the injection. The heads had pipe plugs in place of the crossover tube. No tab/ted solenoids either. HD tow package: so thick radiator, oil cooler, and the larger trans cooler.

My donor motor was out of a 90' F250 with the dual thermactor system, what a mess. Reused the 96' intake and exhaust. Yeah the 96' heads are roller, but the 90' runs great and I still get the same mileage on the highway.

You will love the 5.8 over the 5.0. I have driven each extensively and am very glad my truck is a 5.8.

I'm usually in the Forum for 61-66 trucks but I am Putting a 5.8EFI in my 66 with the AOD as well. Conanski has been very helpful. I just read your thread, all 8 pages and what a wealth of good information here. Hope the build is going good. Looking forward to seeing more on this thread.

Subscribed! I'm gearing up to rebuild my 1990 351W and have the same general vision. Still looking for my GT40 heads, but will probably follow your lead on the cam and headers (at least to start). Not sure where I'll go with the intake longer-term, but figure that's the easiest thing to swap out at a later date... The typhoon does have me thinking though!

I'd love to see some more pics as your working it all out... My hat is off to you my man- seems like you're setting a trend with 351w owners!
