I think I have a question that noboby has ever heard of or probably can answer.I am putting in new gauges in my truck. Mid fifty makes 12v gauges that fit right into the stock frame, which is good because my truck was put togther in Belgium and therefore has the kilometer pr hour speedometer that I need. I have a 351W and a FMX auto from the mid 70`s along with a 9" back axle with 225*75*15 rear wheels. Question 1: what sort of plastic gears( how many teeth) should I order to make my speedometer accurate? Question 2: What are your opinions on the FMX. I have heard everything between that it is the strongest and best gearbox that Ford has produced to that it makes a wonderful boat anker

Sy at Mid Fifty can tell you which gear you need if you tell her the tire size and axle ratio. She also sells a speedo cable that matches the FMX to the speedo head. I had a box of different color gears, but can not remember the color/teeth number she recommended for mine. Most trucks use 18 teeth. Truck faster then speedometer, subtract 1 tooth per 5 mph. Truck slower than speedometer, add 1 tooth per 5 mph. You can get the gear at almost any Ford dealer.

Sounds like accurate info. I got a 17-tooth speedo gear from the local Ford dealership after their tech guy computed my tires (255/75X15) and rear gear ratio (now a 3.50:1).
