here is the new pump back in the truck.

If there is any sign of the frost plugs leaking I would get them at the same time.

Very little cost now but if one lets go it could be . . . I prefer the brass ones

And yes heat is your friend when bolts are tough to get out.

I have to admit I don't know where the freeze plugs are or how to inspect them or where to get replacements.

Any help would be appreciated!

There are 5 on side of block passenger side, one on back of head and one on back of block.

I will get a pic for you.

List: Freeze Plug - Block Kit - 1965 Ford F-100 Pickup | O'Reilly Auto Parts

Above is kit for approx 10.00 for all you need.

Just take a large screwdriver and hammer and hit on probably top edge as will have less rust than bottom side. The plug will turn in hole. Then just take channel locks or a plier - Vise grip and pull them out. Using a proper sized socket to knock them back in. I prefer the brass kits as listed. They make a expansion plug/freeze plug installer but the socket/extension works well too. I normally put some type sealer on plug before installation.

here is a decent pic of my 6 showing the locations. Note that many were leaking! If you were local I would just install them for you.
