Shorten a steering column
Has anyone ever shortened a column shift steering column? I took it to a local machine shop and they said they couldn't do it. I know it's been done, but can't find anyone that knows how.

Shorten a steering column
I had a friend who cut his down 2". Even though it was a chevy the princple should be the same. He made a diagonal cut in shaft to so to allow a larger welded area. the outer tube was replaced with some stainless muffler tubing. He went with a floor shifter so shift linkage through column was not an issue. The mod sure did add for belly room, lol and boy most of us older guys can use that!
