Programmer/chip? Decision time!!

Looking at doin the f-6 chip from DP tuner, after I get my dual 4 inch stacks on. Anyone running this chip or recommendations and whether to use a chip or programmer. I want to be able to shift on the fly. I got stock split shot injectors and stock hpop. I need some help with this decision. Thanks fellas!!!!

DP has great tunes. Go with a chip with a programer you will not not be able to change on the fly

Is there a difference between a programmer and a tuner? I have been really looking at the f-6 chip for a while, possibly the f-5. Would having a 140v IDM change things with the tunin of the f-6. As far as having stock split shots, I should see some good hp and torque gains. Trying to decide if I want to upgrade my hpop befor the chip. My current hpop is running good so I will do as the old saying says. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Anyone u know of running the f-5 or f-6 chip from DP tuner?

A programer has basic tunes for all 94.5-97 PSD as a custom chip has the tunes built for you specific PCM code. Look at it this way what pants fit you better your exact size or one size fits all?

Your 140v mod will not cause a issue with a chip

The Cali has AB code 120cc injector. With a good sealed system you should be around the 28psi mark

I thought I had boost leaks too but I can hold it at 15 psi. I think after the chip I should be able to know for sure if I do. I have a DIY boost leak detector but just haven't used it yet. Came wait to roast these dual 35's I got!! Muahahaha

Just put the F5 in mine and am very happy with it. It is nice to be able switch on the fly. I usually push the clutch in if I'm under load to be safe. Def can feel a power difference! Trying to see a mileage difference under their 80 economy tune on this tank. I do notice it smokes pretty black here in CO when under accel in 3rd and fourth however the 140 tune barely smokes at all. It is nice to be able to monitor your EGT's and compare them to EGT reading under stock conditions. I was very surprised how cool their tunes run.

What are you guys seeing for EGT's on cruise/ heavy pull/ hard accel?

I noticed on the 80 economy I run cooler than stock which I thought was surprising.

Also I was wondering about EGT limits.... I have my PYRO at the down pipe and know its running a couple hundred cooler than the manifold.. but at the DP what are your limits of heat? In other words once I hit what temp should I lay off it? I do not want to push the limits on heat with this motor and would like to run conservative if anything.

I am not heavy footed at all, but when the summer hits, and I'm towing the race trailer around the country and over I70 to Miller in Utah, I want to know what my limits are. The truck has only 113k on it but I want this thing to last me the rest of my life and not be smoked out by 200k. I bought it strictly for towing.... not hot rodding around...unless its the weekend.

I know when the funds come around this summer an intercooler will be added as well.

On a second note...Quite impressed with a fellows 2001 cummins I saw this past weekend with 612k on the ODO. Never has opened up the motor since he bought it new. Bone stock though.

Do u know the difference between the f-5 and the f-6. Tried contacting Jody yesterday but no answer. Thanks for all the input on the f-5. Sounds like just the thing I need.
