Most replies say the bulb is a 194 or 168 however there are some of them around the speedometer and tach but the check lights are another size and much smaller. I bought this 96 and someone removed the check engine light bulb and socket so now I'm trying to replace them. Does anyone know the actual size of these mini bulbs?
There are some 194's in there but the one I needed had a beige base and was about half the size of the 194. I went to the junk yard and found some otherwise it seems to be a dealer only item and the bulb is removable but it is sold together with the twist in base.
It is a 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer. Unless the cluster has been replaced with a different year I am not sure why it is different. I bought it from a crook so nothing would surprise me. The title says mileage may not be correct. When I was at the junk yard I saw a bunch that had only 194's but I don't remember what year vehicle I found the right one in. My guess now is that it may have been a newer Ford with the same shaped cluster. I wish I knew the truth now. I bought it off a Craigslist crook. The interior and most of the exterior looked show room new but the engine had been doctored to keep it from showing signs of a blown head gasket and the check engine light had been removed.
