I just changed out the transmission in my 88 F250 from an 4wd AOD to 2wd c6..I know everyone will ask "why" so...its a work truck that pulls a trailer every day..aod died so this was a cheap fix. The c6 is in, have a b&m floor shifter on the way, new trans lines on the way, my question is, what do I need to do to bypass the neutral safety switch and do I need the wires coming off the c6 to be connected somehow? Any help is very much appreciated!
I.E. the red/blue and orange/white from the truck wiring harness (old AOD) are going to the B&M shifter. I believe it has it's own micro switch. (and another for the backup lights)
I provided the C-6 NSS info in case you go with that NSS. In the event your old AOD had a 4 pin NSS, ignore the ECM wire.
With respect to the old AOD stuff, the AOD TV cables are getting a little hard to find. Don't discard it unless it's really bad, it would sell.
Just be advised, some of the older C-6s had 4 wire NSS, so some of the colors my not be there. If those colors don't work, they came from an '89 Bronco, but yours should be the same.
Fords have been pretty good about using at least one red/blue on the start circuit. The other side shouldn't be hard to find. Another Bronco owner was doing something similar and his "other side" color was different. If need be, I can find that thread.
