- Sorry to post, but I am new and can't yet email and PM is down. I'd be interested in a copy of all of the codes if the oofer is still good. My full of spam already (don't mind posting) address is psumet1997(No Email Addresses In Posts!).

- I'm considering the purchase of a 1984 F250 4x4 4sp and stake bed, now plow or mounts, has 118K mi. The used car dealer is asking $1990, but the PA state inspection runs out this month and the tires look bad, but do match. It appears to have had a rear axle swap as the one under the truck looks cleaner than the one in the bed. Doesn't have rust on the doors or seem to have on the cab, but the front fenders have some and one poor rivited patch.

- Anyway, the VIN is 2FTHF26G5ECB18563. I've been able to get this far; 2FT - Assembled in Canada, H - 8,501 - 9,000 lbs, F26 - F250 4x4.

- Also, I read somewhere (Carfax I think) that it has/came with a 5.8l (351). But, that doesn't narrow it down for a newcomer. I know of 351C, 351W & 351M. The year may narrow that list, but it could have been swapped also. Any engine ID help that you can give would be great! I know about the -C and -M 8 bolt valve covers and the 6 bolts on the -W. (I hope that is right.)

Hey, According to my Chilton's manual your engine code is for a 351-W. Hope it helps.

- Thanks! I've been told that is better than a 351M, but not quite as good as a 351C and that the 351W is a good engine.
- OK, now I've taken this thread way off topic, sorry.
- Everybody (I mean anybody) care to comment on what engine is the best? I am looking far a strong, not necessarily fast tow vehicle.

That was the engine code off your VIN so if it has never been swapped out...
