I know there aren't too many of us out there yet that have took the plunge and tuned our 6.7's but I am looking for a little advise either with the 6.7 or past experience with a 6.4. Tomorrow I am picking up my first fifth wheel which is a 2012 Landmark San Antonio and the dry weight on it is 13,500. Just looking for any suggestions on the tuner settings as far as power goes (mild, wild, or hot). I know the truck has plenty of power stock but would like to know what setting would be best for fuel mileage, engine longevity, and performance.
We towed our 5th wheel quite a bit this summer. It's 35' and about 11 - 12,000 lb. My opinion is.....
IT'S GREAT!!!
But I think you have to be careful, I almost ONLY tow on mild.
I set the defuel to EGT = 1,450 F, Coolant = 220F. It will defuel on wild on EGT but never get there on mild. It has defueled on mild on the coolant temp on long uphills though. I also ended setting a defuel for boost at 35 PSI (which I remove when not towing). I found that even on mild, towing, it would pull some really high pressures for an extended period of time. But I am also on a really old TV. For example, it held 38 PSI up a 9% grade for a FEW MILES. The power was great but the turbo SOUNDED like it was being pushed past where it should be (at least to me). Being able to set the defuel levels to your comfort level is great.
What trans tune are you running? I towed with H&S trans tune and I hated it (obviously it is not designed for towing). It lock the TC WAY to early which can be almost dangerous if you need to get off the line quick. I tow with Ford trans tune now.
Thanks guys for the information. That is very helpful. Right now I am running the stock trans programming. I tried the H&S trans tuning and hated it so I returned back to stock. I thought they were going to be making some changes, to the T/C locking especially as you have mentioned, but I havent seen any updates yet.
Wow I just watched the picture show of that trailer and it is quite impressive!! It reminds me a lot of the Grand Junction my wife and I looked at last year. They are basically like towing a house! Congrats!
The power is great, goes from about 333hp/677tq stock to 497hp/1044tq on hot at the rear wheels.
I deleted my complete EGR but now they have a kit where you only take out the tubes (I think). It's easier as you don't have to drain the coolant and cap the lines etc. You can check it out here: http://www.hsperformance.com/images/fordegt.pdf
The other option (that I know of) is Spartan but I don't know too many people with their tuners. Had I known most people were going to go H&S I prob would have went with Spartan just te be different. Not that I have had any issues with H&S other than this one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-heads-up.html

I pull a 16,000 lb fiver in the mountains of Colorado - no trouble with a stock 6.7L. Why do you think you need a tuner?? BTDT and not going there again.
Towing+Tuner = Trouble.
It's just a matter of time.
That's my opinion and we all know that opinions are like (inser here), everyone has one.

It's OK to have an opinion but you can only have it once.
Postin it twice doesn't help
Well I picked her up yesterday and uploaded a couple of crappy pics to my gallery. All I can do for now. The truck pulled it flawlessly with the tuner set on mild and I managed to get 11.5 mpg for the short distance I went. Life is good
