MAF Sensor???

Somewhere in this vast wealth of knowledge are a few threads about two tiny wires that have something to do with the MAF(?) sensor. I did a "MAF" search as well as a search for "Air Flow Sensors" and couldn't find what I want.

Can I remove the air box and the "snorkel" tube without worry of damaging these wires? All I want to do is "doctor" up the V10 logo on the snorkel.

Thanks, guys.

Rick

I think you are talking about the mass air sensor, which is the part right after the filter.

That could very well be it. All I know is I read somewhere that if these wires get broken it's a $100 tag.

Is it possible to remove the assembly without damage? Can the wires be disconnected in any way?

Rick

Edit: I also thought I'd do the "Zoodad" mod at the same time, and less stuff in the way would be a good thing.

MAF Sensor???

I put a MAC cold air intake and did the Zoo-Dad on mine and I don't remember having any problems with any wiring. It's all pretty straight forward, but I have an Excursion.....may be a little different. Good luck.

Inside the MAF sensor are two very thin wires wound around two glass beads and then seem to be coated with glass again.

Anyway, they are delicate. But, they are inside the housing that the wiring harness runs to just before the air filter housing.

Not a problem as long as you're not whacking everything with a sledge hammer - and don't drop it either.

So I can just unplug the harness from the unit? Difficult to see w/o removing it. Anything else I should know prior to taking it out?

Just unplug it. Remove it and be careful with it. Overall, it's pretty sturdy, the problem is when you want to clean it.
