Engine swap headaches
So on my only day off last week (Tuesday), I went and rented an engine hoist to pull engines. Got the engine out of the 72 and the 66, went to put the engine from the 66 into the 72 and crappola.
The engine hoist decided that it didn't want to hold the engine, the hydraulic cylinder had internal problems. It didn't drop the engine, but it won't hold without losing pressure quickly.
I ended up returning the hoist and getting my money back, unfortunately the engine still isn't in, and the pressure plate got slightly damaged in the process.
So, my next day off is today. I guess I'll paint the engine compartment, wire in the ignition, wire and plumb the roll control and start to build a new dash for my Autometer guages.
Luckily I found someone with a hoist that will let me use it for as long as I need. Can't get it till this coming Tuesday though.
Since the pp got damaged, I decided to just say bag it, and I'm pulling a C6 out of a F250 on Tuesday also (I wanted an AT anyway). And I have a friend at a DL shop that's building me a one piece driveshaft for $60.
So, in the short term, things went from good to bad in a hurry for me. Could have been worse, someone could have got hurt with that engine hoist. But it turns out that nobody got hurt and I am getting what I really want with a little patience.(And I don't have much left).
I noticed an extra set of holes in the frame next to where the trans x-member is mounted. Are these holes used for the AT?
