at the current time i am working on slowly removing a ford 400 from my truck. so far i have the wires to the ignition coil and distributor out of the way, and the oil pressure line. most of the radiator hoses except for the lower radiator hose and the heater hose from the block have been taken off. Tomorrow I will likely remove the fuel line to the pump and remove the wire/wires from the block and alternator. What else do i need to be aware of. is there something else not on the engine that i can take off to help when taking it out.
i assume you have a 4x4 by your name. do you have A/C or C/C in your truck? i just rebuilt my 400 in my 78 supercab 4x4. the first thing i do when i pull a motor is drain all fluids. lable all wires and vac lines. then i start on one side of the motor working my way to the front then the other side taking all hose's and wire's off. also fuel line, P/S pump, alt, fan, drop the exhaust, trans line from rad, rad. also try to put all nuts and bolts back if you can. or at least back through the holes in brakets that way you dont loose them. i hate it when i have parts left over and dont know where they go. if you have A/C you dont have to disconnect it. just get something to tie it back with. same for P/S pump. dont forget to unbolt the converter from the flywheel. i also drain it, small square bolt. save's on making a BIG MESS later. i just got my motor running last weekend and it runs AWSOME. if you have any question's about rebuilding your motor just PM me. i'll be glad to help ya out.
