Earlier this week the blower motor quit on the way to work. I pulled it out last night and the motor seems fine. A jumper wire from the battery to the motor sends it spinning. Is it possible for the Heater Control Unit to go bad? My fuel tank is not switching (I think it started about the same day) and I get no response when I flick the dash switch for the fan control. Is there a ground somewhere for the Heater Control Unit?
Truck is a 1980 F150 300-6 with 4spOD Manual and no AC
Thanks for the help guys, and sorry if this has been answered somewhere else.
I'm looking at the Chilton's manual, pp. 6-14 and 6-15. 1980, with either Comfort Vent Heater or Standard & High Output Heater. If you don't that manual, I can snap a pic of the instructions for either heater system.
I've never dug in there, but it seems with them being in the same area, there is some "innerconnectivity" between the fuel tank switch and blower switch ...
I should have given a better description. I pulled and checked the 30A fuse under the dash. It was good. I also pulled the resistor out, cleaned the contacts on the 3-prong socket and reconnected -- I have not checked the resistor with a volt meter, but nothing looked out of place.
The only reason I am really thinking it is under the dash is that my tank selector quit working at the same time. The lights on the heater control are on, but I am assuming that is a separate circuit and not necessarily an indicator of the functionality of the head unit.
