i know to set timing in a fuel injected vehicle .. you have to discconect spout connecter, so dont think i'm being that stupid . i was just working on my 86 town car .. which is same setup as a truck, basically, and had to replace the distributor. for some reason when i disconect the spout it wants to stall. can anyone set their timing to base and then reconect spout, and check the timing ... so i can try to set mine. or if anyone has any other ideas. thanks
Did you try twisting the distributor -advancing or retarding the timing, then pulling the spout connector. The eec 4 pulls some timing out at start up, perhaps its out of range.I always pulled the connector with the engine off and warmed up then set the timming to 10 degrees btdc reconnected it then started it up. Sounds like you need to play with the distributor some. Spout or (spark out) basically controls your ignition advance, so if the operating conditions call for advance and your distributor is way off it may cause it to stall. hope this helps
all good receomendations, but i did all that stuff pretty much. i have it set pretty decent, and it drives good, just feels like its a hair off. i'll prolly go mess with it agian this weekend, after having put a few hundred miles on it, maybe it was just being bitchy after sitting for 4 months. its just one of them strange things i guess.
